Movie star Will Smith and producer Mark Bomback announced the news on Twitter Tuesday, writing, “Falling Film Series” has been greenlit for a 2017 release.
Smith and Bomback will produce with the upcoming “Fallen,” a drama set in the world of film production that follows a crew of film makers on their journey to break into the industry.
The film will focus on a group of men who find themselves at a crossroads as they embark on a journey of self-discovery in the art and craft of filmmaking.
“This film is an amazing collaboration and we’re thrilled to have George and Mark at the helm,” Smith said in a statement.
“It will be a story of people who have always had a passion for filmmaking, but who now have the opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the world.”
The film follows two men who enter the film industry after graduation and embark on an epic journey of filmmaking with the help of a former production assistant and production manager, who has also been hired as a producer.
“Fallen” will be written by Bomback, whose previous films include “The Great Gatsby,” “The Master” and “Tales from the Crypt.”
The film stars Will Smith, Jeremy Renner, Mark Strong and Amy Adams.
The project is produced by James Wan and Amy Pascal and executive produced by Bomberger and Miller.
