NEW YORK — The UK’s largest independent film distributor has ordered a porn film with $80 million in worldwide gross to open in July.
The British-made film, called “Boomerang,” will begin a limited theatrical run in the U.K. on June 29.
The film was developed by the independent studio UTA and will feature a cast that includes James McAvoy, Kristen Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence and Sofia Vergara.
It was filmed in New York and Los Angeles and stars McAvoys wife, Anna Faris.
The opening is a record for an independent film in the UK, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which first reported the news.
The movie is directed by the director of “Bubba Ho-Tep” and features the voices of Jennifer Lawrence, James McArdle, Jennifer Aniston, Kristen Bell and Reese Witherspoon.
The UTA film is a major coup for the British distributor.
The studio, which is owned by the Walt Disney Company, is among the biggest in the world with a film library that includes the big names in the genre.
UTA has more than 100 titles on offer, including “Fifty Shades of Grey” and “The Hunger Games.”
