Magnolia is one of the leading producers of film festivals, so when the first of its new theaters opened in San Francisco this month, the film-makers were eager to see if it could deliver a memorable experience.
We caught up with the studio head, Matt Tolmach, to find out more about the film festival, what went into its design, and what you need just to know.
What do you see as the biggest challenges in the movie theater space?
The biggest challenge for us is the way that people watch movies.
We’re trying to change that perception.
What we’re trying is to make the movie experience more interesting and engaging, because we see it as more like a conversation than it is a movie.
So the movie is more of a conversation.
We can’t tell the movie to be a conversation; we have to be entertaining and interesting.
What that means is that we’re going to try to keep it more like an experience than a movie, because that’s the only way that we can make it more of an experience.
How do you do that?
I think that’s where we’re at in the industry right now.
People have an addiction to the movie and they want to know how it was made.
And they want that movie to live up to the expectations that they have for it.
What I’m trying to do with Magnolia and the movie festival is to help people understand that, if they want something that’s more than just a movie or a show, that they should get involved in the filmmaking process.
Are you seeing more and more films coming out now?
It’s very much a new development for us.
We’ve been doing this for a while.
What started as a film festival has evolved into a film production company.
And we have a movie that’s already come out and we’ve already had some successful screenings.
And so we’re doing that.
We really are.
We haven’t announced the exact dates, but we do plan to have a lot more screenings this year.
We plan to do a lot of new and exciting screenings, and we have some screenings coming up that we’ve never done before.
What are some of the movies that you’re excited about?
We love the upcoming films.
We think that they’re great.
We just want to do more screenings.
We love what we’re seeing, and that’s what drives us, that’s why we’re not slowing down.
But we also want to make sure that we have the best possible experience for the people that we serve.
We have to make them feel like it’s a great time, because the best movie experience is when it’s the most authentic, and you don’t feel like you’re watching a movie but you’re really sitting down and watching a film.
It feels like you’ve been in a theater.
And the best thing about the movie that we see is that people get to feel like they’re actually sitting at a table, sitting at home and having a conversation and enjoying the movie.
And that’s something that we think really resonates with the audience.
Is there anything you’ve learned from working with film festivals in the past?
I was really excited about the Sundance film festival.
And I thought it was going to be fantastic, but it turned out to be really bad.
The Sundance festival was really a great event.
It was a great place to meet people.
I think the movie industry has really matured over the years, and I think people want to come together and have a conversation about the films that they want, and it’s something I think is really important.
So, we’re excited to see what happens this year, but I think it’s going to come down to the quality of the films and the quality that people want.
We are not the type of company that’s just going to say, “We’re going for the best.”
We have an amazing team that’s been working really hard on the film and we think that the movies are going to speak for themselves.
Is that a concern for you?
No, not at all.
We want to have the greatest experience possible.
Is it something that you’ve noticed on other festivals?
It is definitely a challenge for me, because I’ve been at festivals in Los Angeles for 30 years and I’ve never seen a festival that I haven’t enjoyed.
I’ve had great experiences at Sundance, but what I’ve noticed with other festivals is that they tend to be the smaller festivals that you see more people and a bigger percentage of the seats are occupied by people who don’t necessarily get into film, but are just looking for the perfect experience.
And it’s kind of hard to be on a film-fest experience and not feel like, I’m part of the movie community, which I’m not.
I don’t really have a part in the community at all, because it’s not what I’m passionate about.
I have a passion for music, and my
